About Modula Designs

We at Modula Designs are based on the border of Staffordshire and Shropshire, and are a small, family-run business – aiming to bring fun into furniture in a variety of ways.

When our niece emerged from University having faced 2 years of lockdowns, isolation and online teaching and still obtaining her degree, we were inspired to combine her design skills and my engineering knowledge to create the Modula Designs concept. Our family values and support for our local communities feature heavily in our mission; to manufacture for local people and create local jobs.

Our mission is to manufacture a range of modular furniture that provides the options to use Bamboo, Aluminium, and Acrylic to create beautiful furniture with the lowest possible, carbon footprint.

How we achieve such a low carbon footprint

We use only 3 different materials: Bamboo, Acrylic, and Aluminium.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a wonderful natural product that grows up to 1.5 metre per day, providing us with an alternative to tree wood. Amazingly, bamboo is a form of Grass! Yet, despite being grass, this brilliant, strong material still provides a wood like structure with a grain running along its length.

Aluminium

Aluminium is able to be recycled 100% and forms approx. 8% of the Earth’s crust. With its benefits including light weight and super strength, it is used to provide the main structure to our furniture framework.

Our frames are also finished to a high standard using the latest powder coating techniques leaving a high gloss silky smooth finish.

Acrylic

This is a contemporary material made in Italy and is 100% recyclable and indeed our acrylic has already been recycled! You wouldn’t realise it though as it yet has an unbelievable hard gloss finish that really enhances the finish of our furniture.
